IBPAP representatives orient students

Three hundred seventy-five students attended an orientation on the use of the Basic English Skills Training (BEST) Software conducted by the IT & Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).

The orientation, was held at Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) Hotel and Restaurant Technology (HRT) Service Center, on December 3.

Mr. Ray Anthony Santos, one of the representatives, discussed the use of the software and its benefits. The development of the four macro skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading) in English was the focus of the said software.

Participants were the Second, Third, and Fourth year WVCST students taking up Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIF) and the Bachelor of Science in Information System (BSIS).

The courses were chosen following CHED’s program for Information Technology Education (ITE) students.

“The primary benefit (of the BEST software) is that you get to study English on your own, on your own time, and at your convenience,” said Mr. Santos.

The orientation was held in two batches. The first batch started at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 11:00a.m., with the BSIS 2-A, BSIF 2-A, 3-A, and 4-b students as participants.

Students from the BSIS 3-A, BSIF 2-A, 3-B,4-A, BSCS 3-A and 4-A attended the afternoon session of the orientation from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Other IBPAP representatives present were Miss Mary Joy Dagohoy and Miss Arra Arielle Uri.

The different training tracks of BEST were attended by selected teachers of WVCST in October held in West Visayas State University (WVSU).
