The College of Arts and Sciences held its Parangal 2014 on March 25, 2014 as a recognition of the four long years of struggle of the students in pursuit of academic excellence.
This academic year 2013-2014, CAS has produced one Magna Cum Laude in the person of Mae Ann B. Acayang, BS Mathematics. Acayang is also the Most Outstanding Graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences. Four other students were awarded the Academic Excellence award as Cum Laude. They are Charleen E. Aleganza, BS Computer Science, Mary Rose E. Elgaran, BS Computer Science, Maycee V. Baranda, BS Computer Science and Charlyn Jane C. Acosta also from BS Computer Science.
Mr. Leonard A. Aranjuez, this year’s guest speaker, is an alumnus of WVCST-CAS BS Math Class 2001. According to him, he reached his position as the Head of the Management Information System of WVSU Medical Center thru perseverance, hard work and love for God. He reminded the students not to waste their time and challenged them to strive harder, be prepared and keep the momentum of excellence because in the real world, life is tougher.
Mae Ann B. Acayang, this year’s CAS Magna Cum Laude, took the opportunity to thank her parents, teachers, scholarship sponsors and classmates who joined her in her journey towards academic excellence. At the same time, she encouraged the rest of the class to continue pursuing their dreams and be successful in their own way.
Other awards given during the Parangal were awards for Academic Distinction, Non-Academic, Special Skills, Sports, Cultural, Journalism, Community Service and Leadership Award.
