Conservation Policies
GHG Inventory

Background and Rationale

The Philippine Climate Change Act (RA 9729) obliges all government entities including SUC’s like ISAT U to exert their best efforts to integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation in their policies and development plans.

Hence, the conduct of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and related activities were included in the approved 2022 Quality Assurance and Review Form (QAR) of the University. The consolidated result of the university-wide GHG inventory is anticipated to support appropriate mitigation strategies in the future development plans of the University.

Entity level inventories e.g. ISAT U GHG Inventory and smaller scale sectoral inventories are deemed essential in their data contribution to the national GHG emission inventory.

Water Conservation Program

The Water Conservation Program of the University is sustainable pursued through the following efforts: rain water harvesting, construction and maintenance of cisterns in many buildings and enforcing a strong set of policies on water conservation.

Cisterns in many areas provide continuous water supply for cleaning purposes, laboratories activities and maintaining the gardens and mini parks. Each underground cistern unit can accomodate at maximum capacity 540 m3 of water.

Segregation of plastic bottles and other recyclables

Waste segregation bins are strategically situated in different areas of the university.

Holding area  (garbage bodega at E. Lopez Lot or the New Site Area) for  non-biodegradable waste and residual waste. These are made ready for collection of the Iloilo City General Services Office through the JS Layson garbage collection trucks.
