HRMO leads lecture-forum on Honing of Potentials and Optimism in the workplace

The University Human Resource Management Office, led by HRMO III Mr. Bonnie Arenal, conducted a two-day lecture forum on Honing Optimism and Potentials of Employees (HOPE) towards  a Gender-Responsive ISAT U.

The lecture forum kicked off on November 12, 2024, with Miss Pearl Joy Jimenea, a Registered Guidance Counselor and faculty of ISAT U and Dr. Grace Sulleza, Associate Professor IV of West Visayas State University Pototan Campus, and also a registered Guidance Counselor. The lectures gave the participants the chance to analyze their personalities and their potentials which can be beneficial to the workplace and at the same time to themselves. According to Miss Jimenea, it is important to have self-awareness to recognize our strengths and weaknesses to be able to perform well in the workplace. An open communication with our co-workers is also important because it fosters workplace trust and increases productivity. On the other hand, optimism, according to Dr. Sulleza, strengthens us to keep on trying instead of giving up. Optimistic people can control the situation and can stay focus on their goals.

Meanwhile, on the second day, November 13, Dr. Alma Mae Torremoro and Dr. Lynna Marquelencia, both ISAT U faculty, discussed gender issues that affect our performance in the workplace such as gender sensitivity, beliefs, ideas, and other factors that block the person’s capacity to do and to be. Dealing with people with cognitive and learning disabilities was also highlighted during the lecture.

This activity marked a positive reaction on the part of the employees especially that the topics were very timely and relatable.

The seminar on HOPE is just one of the HRMO’s programs to continuously train and educate ISAT U Non-Teaching Personnel  to be more gender responsive and productive in the workplace. In the previous months, another batch were also given the chance to join the Seminar Workshop on Harnessing Agility and Responsiveness in Public Service (SHARP).
