From August 14 to 16, 2024, ISAT University held a Patent Drafting Training Workshop that left its faculty researchers feeling empowered and inspired. Hosted on the 4th floor of the Multipurpose Hall in the Students Services Building at the New Site, the workshop was organized by the Office of Intellectual Property Management (IPMO) in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Leading the training were IPOPHL experts Mr. Dindo Dumali and Mr. Wilfredo Calaguan, who brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the sessions. Their hands-on approach helped demystify the often complex process of patent drafting, making it accessible and engaging for everyone involved.

Over the course of three days, the faculty researchers rolled up their sleeves and dived into the nitty-gritty of drafting patents. The atmosphere was one of enthusiasm and collaboration, with participants eager to learn and apply new skills. They didn’t just sit through lectures; they actively worked on their own patent drafts, receiving valuable feedback and guidance from the experts.

By the end of the workshop, the researchers had not only developed their patent drafts but also gained a deeper understanding of how to protect their innovative ideas. Many of them expressed how the training had boosted their confidence, making them feel better equipped to take their research to the next level.

The success of the workshop highlights ISAT University’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting its researchers in turning their ideas into tangible assets. The participants left the event feeling motivated, with new tools in hand to help them secure patents that could lead to groundbreaking developments in their fields. For ISAT University, this is just the beginning of a stronger push towards research and innovation, and the workshop was a significant step forward in that journey.
