Iloilo Science and Technology University celebrated its second anniversary as a university on May 18, 2017. The simple celebration started with a solemn mass attended by the academic community at the Multi-purpose Gym at 8:00 in the morning.
In his message, Dr. Raul F. Muyong, thanked all the faculty and staff on what the school has achieved as a university. He also encouraged everyone to serve with pride and utmost dedication.
ISAT U attained its university status through Commission on Higher Education (CHED) en banc Resolution No. 207-2015 on May 18, 2015 and is currently fast tracking infrastructure projects intended to improve the students’ services.
Some of the projects inaugurated as part of the celebration were the Science and Technology Building (N Building) and the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) building. These facilities are now ready for the opening of classes for academic year 2017-2018.
The Science and Technology Building will be the new home of the College of Education and the Laboratory School. The 38.6 million pesos facility features 17 classrooms, 1 audio-visual hall, 4 offices, 6 comfort rooms (3 for men and 3 for women) and 2 shower rooms. It is also equipped with complete fire protection system, terraces and an outdoor activity stage.
The Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) building is expected to beef up the instructional capability of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Technology and other related courses. The first floor of the three-storey facility houses the hot and cold kitchen laboratories, lectures rooms and the offices. In the second floor are seven rooms with different features that will be used for instructional purposes and to accommodate guests as well. A spacious function hall at the third floor is readily available for different occasions. The Phrase 3 of the construction of the TLE building costs 7, 025, 315. 91 pesos.
The newly refurbished third floor of the administration building with installed glass partitions and frameless glass door was also inaugurated. The 852, 754.78 pesos project will house the offices of the Vice President for External Affairs, Legal Division, Internal Audit Services and the Bids and Awards Committee.
The signing of Memorandum of Agreement for the student teaching program between the College of Education and the Department of Education capped the day’s celebration.
