        Dr. Lino B. Baldevarona, Fashion and Apparel Technology Department head,  was invited by the Philippine Sports Commission, Inc.  as one of the International Technical Officials in the 5th Asian Beach Games 2016 at Da Nang, Vietnam on September 23- October 3, 2016 .

       Dr. Baldevarona was requested to be a referee/jury in the Pencak Silat event which was included in the martial arts category. He is the only Class II Referee/Jury in the country and  was one of the two Philippine jurors who officiated the event. The other one was Mr. Christopher E. Yabut.   Dr. Baldevarona also served as the mentor to new international referees who went with him in the competition.

     The 5th Asian Beach Games featured around 3,500 athletes from 45 Asian nations that competed in 14 sports.

VPAF joins TVET Pakistan conference

           Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Dr. Nehema K. Misola attended the first International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) on October 3-4, 2016 at Islamabad, Pakistan.

        The conference was held to develop and create reforms in the TVET system through exchange of best practices, experiences, and knowledge within the international and regional context for developing a better system in Pakistan. It also aimed to develop Pakistan’s National Skills Strategy program.  The conference was attended by international TVET experts, leaders, senior executives, and delegates within the TVET sector  from 15 countries including Australia, Belarus, China, Germany, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

   Dr. Misola was the only visiting delegate from the Philippines. She is currently the UNESCO International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC) Coordinator for the Philippines in the Visayas. She shared ISAT U’s  best practice of maximizing the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in teaching and the UNEVOC Philippines Biennial Plan.
