Twenty-seven Faculty and staff of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) Computer Department and Research Services Division attended a seminar-workshop for research capability building.
The eight-hour training last January 9, 2015 in the WVCST Computer Lab Room 204 zeroed in on the prior arts search.
Prior Arts Search is used for the researcher to know whether the application or research already exists or if it is new.
Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez, OIC-president of WVCST, congratulated the faculty of the Computer Department for starting the year right by conducting the seminar-workshop.
In his speech, Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, the Vice-president for Research and Extension and Main Campus Administrator, challenged the participants of the said seminar-workshop to pass the qualifications required in research by the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD).
PCIEERD is an organization funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) that offers a 500,000 php funding to whoever passes their qualifications for research.
The activity also taught the participants techniques when using prior arts search.
Concepts given by the participants at the end of the seminar-workshop will be deliberated by the Research Services Division for the recommendation of potential funding for the selected studies.
Also present were the representatives of the WVCST- Dumangas, Barotac Nuevo, and Miag-ao Campus.
Lavinia Dulla, the WVCST Statistician who is currently on-study leave taking up MS Statistics at the University of the Philippines- Diliman, served as the resource speaker.
