A Busog Lusog Talino (BLT) midyear partners meeting and seminar-workshop was held by the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology’s (WVCST) Extension Services Division (ESD) in partnership with Jollibee last December 11-12, 2014 at the Edtech Center.
Sixty principals and representatives from schools and Local Government Units (LGU’s) assisted by the BLT program of WVCST participated the said meeting and seminar-workshop.
This activity was to enable the participants to share the problems they encounter, the strategies of their schools’ BLT program implementation, and the solutions they have done to settle these problems.
“Most schools are new to the BLT program so in order to familiarize them with the techniques and strategies used by other schools, we organized this activity,” said Miss Liza Mae B. Mospa, staff of the WVCST-ESD.
The said activity was also to keep track of the nutritional status of the children benefited by the BLT feeding program in the municipalities of Concepcion, San Dionisio, Lemery and San Rafael.
A year-end evaluation and monitoring will follow to assess the schools with the best BLT program implementation. The chosen schools will receive a BLT recognition to acknowledge their BLT practices and innovations.
Ruth A. Ramirez, Program Officer of the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF)-Manila, served as the resource speaker of the meeting and seminar-workshop.
Meanwhile, the WVCST-ESD also gave relief goods to typhoon Ruby victims in Concepcion, Estancia and Capiz.
