Christmas tree of hope launched

A Christmas tree of hope was launched in Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) in partnership with ABS-CBN-Iloilo on December 8, 2014.

The said launching was a part of the ABS-CBN-Iloilo Christmas tree of hope project which is to raise funds for the gift giving to the less fortunate.

Christmas Stars to be hooked on the Christmas tree of hope are sold for 10 pesos each at the office of the college president. The project’s proceeds will be used for the Kapamilya Fiesta sa Paskua.

The launching at the covered gym was attended by the college-OIC president, key officials, faculty, staff and students. Miss Jennifer Clavecillas represented ABS-CBN.

The Kapamilya Fiesta sa Paskua is an annual Christmas Party and gift giving for the less fortunate children and their families this Christmas in Iloilo City.

The school donated 5,000 pesos in support for the said project.

Computer Dept. holds curriculum review

The Computer Department of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology’s (WVCST) held a two-day curriculum review on December 8-9, 2014 at the new board room.

The curriculum review was conducted to align and add subjects in accordance with CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) requirements. It is also in compliance with CHED’s Regional Quality Assessment Team’s (RQAT) recommendations during its November 26 visitation.

Programs under the computer department that were reviewed were the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIF), Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), and Bachelor of Science in Information System (BSIS).

Dr. Leah Montinola, College Registrar, and Mr. Ned Cababasay, head of the Management Information System Encoding and Data Processing Department (MIS/EDP), critiqued the outputs presented by the participants.

Also present in the curriculum review were the representatives from the external campuses namely: Ramil Lumauag and Remia Entusiasmo, Miagao Campus; Zennie Joy Causing and Joseph Wynford Tanoy, Dumangas Campus; and Arthur Aricaya, Barotac Nuevo Campus.
