A Manila-based company visited Western Visayas College of Science and Technology last Thursday, October 16, 2014 to recruit qualified students and alumni for its manpower needs.
Representatives of the Philippine EDS Techno Services Incorporated (PET), an affiliate of the Japanese Global Company, Yazaki Corporation, met officials of the college.
Mr. Lyndon Carillo, President of PET, Mr. Takumi Iwata, representative of the Yazaki group of companies, and Mr. Kiyomi Takezawa, of the Takezawa Technology Transfer and Industrial Consultancy, Inc., gave a brief presentation of their respective companies before the students and alumni of WVCST.
The presentation was followed by a bio-data/ resume evaluation and an interview for graduating students and alumni in the field of Engineering and Computer Science and Technology at the Ed Tech Center.
Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, OIC President of WVCST, and six officials from the different colleges and departments, discussed the school’s on-the-job training system with the representatives in a forum.
“Their main purpose is to find out if any agreement can be established between the WVCST and Yazaki group of companies regarding the school’s OJT system,” Engr. Christian D. Misola, Chief of Placement/ Industry Linkages Development Office (P/ILDO) said.
Engr. Misola, who organized the visitation of the representatives, also added that the company is trying to find out if they can handle the health and monetary needs of those who can pass the series of examinations.
After the forum, Dr. Nehema K. Misola, Vice President for Administration and Finance, toured the representatives in the school’s new site.
The Yazaki Corporation develops and manufactures automotive wire harnesses, meters, electronic components and other automotive products. It is also the main supplier to famous automotive brands, such as, Volvo, Honda, Isuzu, and Ford.
