A seminar on Computer Research and Thesis Writing was conducted on February 28, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm and was participated in by selected faculty members.
The activity spearheaded by the MIS Department under Mr. Ned Cababasay intends to expose the faculty to the actual work done in producing a research paper or thesis worthy of an international publication and to give the insight on how this is done.
According to Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, there are lots of products and inventions that were done by some faculty members but the problem usually goes back to research and writing, a reason why there is a great need for continuous study on this matter. At the same time, professors can use them in guiding their students in doing their own research and thesis.
Mr. Frank Elijorde, a graduate of WVCST and now an Assistant Professor in West Visayas State University and a recipient of 5 best papers award in international publication and conferences, was the resource speaker. He gave a lecture on the parts of a research paper, the different kinds of research methods and answered questions during the open forum.
This seminar on research and thesis writing was just one of the three seminars prepared by the College. The two others entitled “Thesis and Dissertation Seminar” will follow on March 8 and 15 which will be participated in by students and faculty members from MIT and DIT programs.
