The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) project on ”The Enhancement of 4Ps Program (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) through Science and Technology” in collaboration with Western Visayas College of Science and Technology –Extension Services Division concluded their 5 month skills training and 235 recipients graduated last February 20, 2014.
Held at WVCST Covered Gym, the graduates who were composed of 149 trainees (in 5 batches) for Commercial Cooking, 58 for Beauty Care (3 batches), 15 for Residential Building Wiring and 13 for Carpentry expressed their gratitude to DSWD as well as to the WVCST Professors who trained them. According to the graduates, the skills that they have learned will definitely help improve their lives and will surely give a good future to their respective families.
In the speech of Ms. Rebecca Guimala, Division Chief of DSWD – IDU (Institution and Development Unit), based on her family success story, it is very important that parents involved in the 4Ps program, should teach their children values especially honesty, determination and hard work. Through these and the skills they have learned from the training, they can help each other in building their good future. At the same time, she conveyed her happiness that finally the trainees have finished their courses and that she is looking forward to their success.
On the other hand, Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, VP for Research and Extension of WVCST emphasized to the 4Ps recipients that all these skills will be in vain if they will not use it in earning money. He reminded them that a lot of millionaires in the world did not finish their education. However, through their skills they became successful. Dr.Ambut added that all they need is a strategy on how to convert these skills into peso plus determination, and the rest will follow.
The Enhancement of 4Ps Program through Science and Technology started on September 20, 2013 with a 10 day duration (Saturdays, Sundaysand Holidays) for each training. Engr. Corazon Corbal, WVCST-Extension Services Division Director, thankedWVCST and GAD (Gender and Development) Office for providing a budget of Php362, 676. 80 as the financial counterpart for this project, and DSWD Regional Office 6 for allocating the amount of Php613, 800. 00 bringing it to a total project cost of Php976, 476. 80.
She also expressed her gratitude to the faculty who trained the recipients as well as to the faculty of CAS, CIT, COE and CEA of WVCST who helped sustain the program by providing technical assistance and ensuring smooth implementation of the trainings. The monitoring and facilitating of the trainings were done by the staff of the Extension Services Division.

Meanwhile, the facilitators for this project are Dr.Noli R. Mandario, Dr. Gerry B. Rojo, Dr. Andres B. Ortega, Jr., Engr. Albert Z. Janapon, Suzette B. Aparicio, Mary Margaret C. Coo, Audrey Marie Cagayao, Jasper Ann J. Gonzales, Liza Mae Mospa, Elizabeth Geromiano and John Ray Monte.
