WVCST Students Hold Environmental Activity

Select student leaders of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) held a tree and mangrove planting activity at Brgy. Dangulaan in Anilao, Iloilo last February 16.

This activity was in line with Executive Order No. 26, or the National Greening Program created by the administration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.

Spearheaded and sponsored by the Educator’s Guild, the tree and mangrove planting activity was participated in by the members of the Kabataang Pangarap ni Rizal (KAPARIZ), the Environmental Club, and the College of Education class mayors.

As a way of giving back to the community, the students planted a total of 1,150 seedlings over an area of approximately 320 square meters. Faced with issues such as global warming and deforestation, the activity helped to address the world’s increasing environmental problems. Moreover, it served as a venue to establish harmonious relationships and camaraderie between the WVCST community and the people of Anilao.
